Mops Valentine Event February 11
Our Mops ministry sponsored the social event of the year! Over 40 couples enjoyed food, live music, dancing and the popular Newlywed Game!
Men's Breakfast- January 15
There were 80 men in attendance and they heard an inspiring message from Larry Miller, General Manager of Advantage Fitness. Men were challenged to draw from the power of the Holy Spirit and evidence self- control in the area of health and fitness.
Candle Light Walking Tour- December 4
Members of the Spring Hills Worship Team braved the chilly, snowy evening on Sat., Dec. 4, 2010, to let Christmas praises ring out from the Quad on the Denison University campus all the way to (some said) Main & Broadway! A major part of the evening was our hospitality tent, furnished with cookies and hot drinks. A most popular spot turned out to be the "barn heater" set up near the hospitality tent. It drew a crowd all evening long!! Spring Hillers got to speak with several visitors to the tent about the music, our church, and the Lord. We also gave out several invitations to our Christmas Praise concert and our Christmas Eve services. It was good to be "back out there" at the Candle Light Walking Tour. We plan to be involved again this year, so as the event draws nearer, let us know if you'd like to be involved.
Heaven's Light, a night of Christmas Worship
It was a very "Spring Hills like" night: casual, comfortable, laid back...worship leaders in jeans and sweaters, and a packed house ready to worship the Savior, Emmanuel, God With Us, along with our Praise Choir and Kids Choir. In the midst of the busy Christmas season, it was enjoyable to take a night and focus on Jesus, and be reminded once again of God's love for us, sending His Son to be our Savior. We cried out for heaven's light to fall, and sought to lift His Name higher. DVDs are available ($4 each).
Christmas Eve
Once again our worship center was full for both of our Christmas Eve services this year. These are truly two of the most visited services by our guests each year. Acoustic Worship set the tone for communion, poignant messages, and the lighting of the candles. We plan to make Christmas Eve, 2011, a major outreach event, starting prayer and plans early in the Fall, to be ready for the number of guests that will surely be here once again. Please pray with us that we can reach many people with the gospel message this Christmas Eve.
Operation Christmas Child- December 2010
Thank you for choosing to serve, love and reach out all in the name of the Lord Jesus! Your willingness to assist the Spring Hills Collection Center in November was deeply appreciated! As God would have it, each participant played an integral part in praying, banding, sorting, packing, taping and stacking! And, after all was said and done some 2,502 shoeboxes were delivered to Brandon Baptist from our center. Praise the Lord who has done AMAZINGLY more than we could imagine. PRAY, PRAY, AND PRAY some more! You are beloved of the Father!
Awana- November 2010
8 clubbers from Sparks accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior! Praise the Lord for these new Christians!
Thanksgiving Basket Program - November 21st
We collected, assembled and distributed 120 Thanksgiving baskets to needy and struggling families in Licking County. Thanks for reaching out to those who need a tangible touch from our Savior!
WAG Event October 23
About 15 women joined together for a day at Ann Kater’s Farm. Ladies enjoyed hiking the nature trails around the 107 acre farm. Fancy cookies and drinks awaited them at the top of one of the more challenging hikes. They enjoyed rides on the tractor and hay trailer and feasted around a great bonfire. The evening was filled with night hikes, games and fellowship with one another.
Fall Festival October 28
Children’s Fall Festival Soars
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." Matt. 9:37-38
Thanks to nearly 50 dedicated volunteers and servants amidst the harvest of local families … this year’s Fall Festival WAS AMAZING!!
Hundreds and hundreds of children, students, parents and families attended our 13th Annual Fall Festival last week. Uncountable candies were given, games played, hands shaken and smiles received in celebration of Gods EXTREME Blessing to all!! SPECIAL thanks go out to Officer Daily of the Granville Police Department, Officer Hutchinson of the Newark Fire Department, “Bug Lady” Mrs. Vicki Foutch and “Parky” the Mascot from Park National Bank.
Please remember to include each of the attending youngsters in your prayers. Christ’s Gospel was shared in anticipation of life transformation to come!!
WAG July 30- August 1
During our white water rafting trip in Virginia 11 brave women took on the New-River. Our camping trip included a guided white-water rafting tour with class II-V rapids and lunch on the river. One brave soul conquered her fear and jumped 40’ from Jump Rock into the river! Devotions were held each morning and night around the campfire. Our theme was the Spirit of God taken from Isaiah 59:19. We compared the power of the Spirit and staying into the flow of the Spirit with the power of the rushing mighty waters of the New River. It proved a fruitful event. Several women, who were new in Christ, started their own bible study group after the adventure. Many special moments were shared around the campfire and in our tents as women shared deep hurts, concerns, and areas of strongholds that needed God’s touch. I hope you will join us when we go back again.
Kids Kamp July 26-30
The last week of July 8 junior campers and 8 pre-campers from SHBC went to Kids Kamp with Pastor Tom and Tracy Pound. We also had over 10 adult volunteers work at the camp that week! There were a total of 284 kids at Kids Kamp.
Downtown VBS
On Wednesday August 4th our Youth concluded their summer VBS at the Washington Square Apartments. They had a cookout for the families and gave away 50 backpacks full of school supplies to the children who had been attending all summer. They also handed out blankets that were made by our High Seas VBS kids. What a blessing to serve where we live!
VBS June 21-25
The theme for this years' Vacation Bible School was High Seas Expedition! Our halls were filled with over 230 kids each day. On Monday we had a record attendance of 242 kids! Under the direction of "Admiral" Deb Dottavio over 100 volunteers showed up each day to serve as our crew leaders, youth helpers, teachers, games coordinators and of course the snack ladies...every one's favorite!
On Thursday we had the amazing, world champion juggler David Cain! He shared the good news of the gospel of Christ through his entertaining juggling. He led the children in the sinners prayer and over 75 kids made decisions for Christ. Praise the Lord! We heard stories of children who received a Bible for the very first time, and a little boy who left the very next day with his Bible to return to Afghanistan with his family!
The boys and girls brought in over $600 in offerings to support two of our missionaries, Heather Warner a teacher in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Dina Labib with Camp Bethel Ministries. And, because of generous donations to our VBS budget our staff wore t-shirts with our children's ministry logo on them, and our children were able to make blankets for other children overseas and right here in Licking County! What a blessing!
